2015 Oiled Wildlife Volunteer Workshop
Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM (EST)
Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, Inc.
170 Possum Hollow Rd
Newark, DE 19711
Volunteers play an integral part in oiled wildlife response and Tri-State is expanding our local team of volunteers to assist at our facilities in Newark, DE. Tri-State’s oil spill team offers this facility specific training a few times each year to local volunteers who are interested in participating in this unique aspect of wildlife rehabilitation.
Oiled wildlife response may be difficult, but it is extremely rewarding. The Oiled Wildlife Volunteer Training Workshop will introduce all aspects of oiled wildlife response including safety, medical protocols and cleaning techniques as well as rehabilitation needs of animals both before and after cleaning. Therefore, no animal experience is necessary! However, we do ask that only those who are truly intersted in making the commitment to become a wildlife responder volunteer apply.
- Pre-registration – you must sign up through Eventbrite or contact one of the organizers to be guaranteed a seat in the course.
- Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Please bring a pair of waterproof boots and a lunch, or make plans for lunch nearby
- Volunteers will be expected to assist with the next spill response effort utilizing the Newark, DE facility.
Registration includes an annual individual membership and a free t-shirt. Visit https://www.tristatebird.org/membership to view the membership benefits.
This course fills up quickly! Once all the tickets sell out, individuals will be placed on a waiting list.
