Privacy Policy

Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research (TSBRR) is committed to respecting the privacy of our donors, members, and constituents. This written Privacy Policy has been developed to make you aware of how we protect your privacy and inform you of the ways in which your information may be used.

TSBRR collects personal information from donors, members, individuals who bring patients to the clinic, current and prospective volunteers, and other supporters. This information may include name, address, phone number, email address, donation amount, and information necessary to process payments. We will not sell, trade, rent or share our constituents’ personal information.

How We Use Your Contact Information
Contact information, which includes name, address, phone number, and email address, is used by TSBRR for the following purposes:

  • To thank donors and members for their support and provide appropriate receipts
  • To send Tri-State newsletters
  • To send other communications about TSBRR activities and opportunities for support via mail or email, including but not limited to event invitations, appeals, and other updates
  • For internal analysis and record keeping
  • For reporting to U.S. and State agencies as required by law
  • To contact constituents, when needed. (e.g. clarify information about a donation)

Contact information may be provided to a third-party ONLY when that company is acting as an agent for TSBRR. In those cases, the third-party does not gain any ownership of the information and will not use that information for any purpose other than as requested by TSBRR. Examples of these third-parties include but are not limited to printers and mail houses.

All donors will receive acknowledgements for donations. TSBRR will honor requests to not have written acknowledgements mailed, unless the value of that donation is such that an acknowledgement is required by law.

Removal from Lists
To be removed from our print mailing list, contact us by mail, phone, or email to communications@tristatebird.org with your request. Please specify what mailings you do not want to receive by mail: newsletters, solicitations and/or all print communications.

To be removed from our Constant Contact email list, click on the unsubscribe link in any of our emails. You may also go to our homepage at tristatebird.org, click on the “Join our mailing list” box, and follow the instructions to edit your profile or unsubscribe completely.

How We Use Your Financial Information
Financial information, including donation amounts, is used for the following purposes:

  • Internal analysis and record keeping
  • Reporting to U.S. and State agencies as required by law
  • Recognition of contribution levels in TSBRR publications, including but not limited to the annual report and web site, as deemed appropriate by TSBRR
  • Reporting funding sources to potential corporate and foundation grantors. This information typically only applies to very large donations and is kept confidential by the potential grantor

Credit cards may be used as the method of payment for donations and other purchases such as tickets and merchandise. Credit card payments may be accepted online via our secure payment gateway, by phone, or in person. Credit card and account information is not stored by TSBRR, unless a donor has requested that a recurring donation be processed using that account.

Donors who wish to keep their donations anonymous should contact TSBRR by mail or email with their request. This anonymity will apply to TSBRR publications and communications materials; however, it will not apply to legally required reporting obligations or to requests by grantors for information about major funding sources.

Honor/Memorial Notifications
Donations may be made in memory or honor of another individual or organization. In this case, we request the name and contact information of an individual who should receive a notification that a donation was made. This information is used exclusively for this notification and is not added to any mailing list. The individual who is notified will receive the name and address of the donor, but not the gift amount.

Gifts

Donors may purchase a membership or adopt-a-bird package for another party. In either case, both the gift giver and the gift recipient will be added to the TSBRR mailing lists to receive newsletters and other communications from TSBRR.

External Links and Other Sites
TSBRR is not responsible for the content or privacy policies of any linked web sites. This includes any outside forums or social networking sites where TSBRR has a presence.

Web Statistics
TSBRR uses IP addresses to gather demographic data, track user movement, and analyze trends of visitors to tristatebird.org. This information is used for aggregate visitor and traffic statistics and is not linked to personally identifiable information.

Children
Children under 13 years of age should obtain approval from a parent (or guardian) prior to providing any personally identifiable information. TSBRR does not knowingly collect or use information from children under 13 that has been provided without parental permission.

Donor Bill of Rights
TSBRR follows the Donor Bill of Rights created in part and endorsed by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
