Manured Red-tailed hawk

Juvenile hawks frequently get themselves into trouble of one kind or another, and this one was found in a manure pit. Our Clinic team first worked to stabilize the dehydrated raptor and make sure he could handle the stressful wash process. Then our Oil team took over, decontaminating the hawk and overseeing the drying process. Once back in the Clinic, the hawk received additional medical treatment, cage rest, ample food, and then flight time to rebuild its strength before being returned to the wild. Patients like this hawk demonstrate why we remain prepared for a variety of situations—you never know what challenges await!
