Every now and then, a patient requires us to go the extra mile—literally! This Blue-headed Vireo was admitted for a fracture in the shoulder and head trauma from a window strike. The vireo was injured during migration, and by the time it recovered, it was too late to release it locally. Thankfully, we have amazing volunteers who are willing to go above and beyond for our patients! Once the vireo was healed and flying strong, one of our volunteers transported this patient all the way down to North Carolina so that it could be released in its normal wintering range.
