Barn Owl

March 2016

barnfb2This Barn Owl was found entrapped in a lighthouse, and a Delaware Fish & Wildlife agent made the climb to rescue the trapped bird. The owl was soon transported to our clinic for care. Fortunately, the bird had sustained only a few cuts and abrasions, which were cleaned and sutured after its initial examination. The owl healed quickly and was soon moved to an outdoor cage, where it demonstrated strong flight skills. After two weeks of rehabilitation, this majestic hunter was ready to return to the wild and was released near the area where it had been found.
